Prelim task "Girls can't play"

Ideas for our film
  • We were going to have a football film.
  • Where a child is bullied and sport helped them.
  • A cheerleader film.
  • Use a more interesting setting.
  • The idea we went with was a basketball film where it was girls vs boys.

The evolution
  1. Who did you work with and how did you manage the task between you
I worked with Holly Connell, Anneka and Jordan Carter. I believe we worked well together as a team. This is because we all knew what everyone in the team was doing. We also if we didn't now what to do we would have used a group chat.

     2.  How did you plan your sequence? What processes did you use?
We planed are sequence was how we wanted to see the film. We chose the shots that we thought would show the idea of the shot the best.
     3.  What theorists do you think you could apply to your task?
I believed that we used Aristotle theory as are film had a beginning, middle and end. I also believe that we started to use Todorov theory as are film started to how signs of the 5 stages.
     4. What factors did you have to take into account when planning, shooting and editing?
We had to take into account when doing this project what everyone's weakness and strengths and how much everyone felt they should do. We also had to take into account when we could film as we need more people than in are group as we wanted teams to play basketball. Another thing we had to think about was what other subjects we were doing at school as they were trips during the week which meant I was not in for a day so we had to plan around that.
    5.  How successful was your sequence? Please identify what worked well and with hindsight what would you improve/do differently?
I believe that are sequence was quite successful however it could have been improved. I believe that if more than one person filmed it would have been better as it meant we could have had more than one angle. I also believe that when we had speech in our film we should have filmed the audio separately as it would have made it clearer. I also believe that with hindsight we should have check our clips once we filmed them as a group so we all knew how they came out/
   6. What did others say about your production?
Others said that are production was good however the audio could have been better. They also said some of are shots could have been different.  One of the shots that some said that could have been better was are tracking shot. However most people liked are here come the girls scene was funny however to improve it we could have made it slightly longer then the tracking shot would have been better.
   7. What have you learnt from completing this task?
I have learnt during this task is to share out jobs evenly so no one is feeling over worked, I also believe that letting people how you feel about  what is going on so everyone knows when something is too much so everyone
   8. Looking ahead, how will this learning be significant when completing your final film opening?I have learned that you needed more than one person to edited as it needs more than one angle to seeing a film I have also learnt that communication is key in any group so that everyone knows what is going on at any time.

Juno

Here is my storyboard for my Juno filming.

This is my Juno film opening.

How did the filming go?
I believe that the filming went well and we worked well as a team. I also believed once we got use to how to film we become quite quickly however still production quite high quality shots that were quiet close to what the original shots looked like.
Was your storyboard accurate?
I believe are scoreboard was accurate however did not have enough detail as we did not have written down ideas for every single shot which made the filming harder. I also believe that we could have applied more of the details about filming that we have learnt about like mise en scene.
What were the strengths and weaknesses in the group?
I believe that we worked well as a group as we understood how we needed to shoot the shoots and how they were going to work. We also had a good time as we had jokes within the team this made us work well as it meant we did not get into arguments. However some of the weakness of the team was that we did not use the storyboard properly which meant that a lot of times are timings were out. Also some of our shots we could have put more thought into it to make it the closest possible likeness to the original footage.
Did you get all the footage you needed?
I believe that we did get all the footage we needed however some of the angles we had were not very close to the original. I believe that this is down to the fact that we did not use the storyboard properly as we did not realise how important a good storyboard is to made a good film opening.
What technical skills either camera or premiere did you learn?  How does it compare to the original?
I learnt a lot about filming as i never used a camera to film before i have only ever used my I phone. I have learnt that even while filming you can zoom in and out. I also learnt that you have to keep the camera very still so the shot did not shake too badly.
For premiere I have learnt how to add multiple effects to a video clip i have also learnt about speeding up or slowing down a video clip so that it matched the original footage which was the hardest part of the edit as it meant i had a strict timings to keep to which was very hard as we still needed to make the shots seem the same speed as the original.
What went well- what I learnt- what I will take with me into the next production.
I believe that my editing went will however some of the transactions could have been better and closer to the original however I believe that i will get better as I edit more however this is the first footage I've filmed myself to edit as well. I have also learnt that i can add more than one film at the same time. I learnt this so I could have the original playing at the same time as the film I have edited.
I also believe that the quality of the film shots is good which I think is good.
I will take to the next production is to make sure that my storyboard has enough detail so  i can film the shots with more ease. I also could look though the effects and transitions in more detail so I could have more accurate effects so that it looks better and more professional.
